Since 2022, we have been developing together with Dr. Bogdan Pascu a platform with tools for assessing a child's growth. Endocrinologiepediatrica.ro is used by doctors and residents and brings together medical calculators, user accounts, and data collection.
We turned the specialist's calculation methods and information into online tools. Through the use of calculators and questionnaires, the platform has accumulated a large volume of data. The collected responses also contributed to a medical research paper.
The project continues to grow. This collaboration also gave rise to MeHealthy Pediatric Pro, the app in which a parent can keep the child's measurements, follow the trend, and share the history with the doctor.
Tools for medical work
A doctor needs to look at a measurement in context: the child's age, sex, previous data and, for certain calculations, information from the consultation or lab results. The platform brings these data into forms and displays the calculation results.
Some tools can also be used by parents. Others require data and terms that doctors work with most of the time. The calculators provide indicative reference points, which the specialist interprets together with the child's history and evaluation.
Calculations based on medical sources
We implemented the calculation methods in collaboration with Dr. Bogdan Pascu, starting from the medical sources selected for each tool. For several calculators, the platform indicates the standards and specialist publications used.
The references shown include World Health Organization and CDC growth standards, guidelines for evaluating blood pressure in children, and studies on growth velocity. Explanations of percentiles and standard deviations accompany the tools.
Data that contributed to research
The calculators and questionnaires made it possible to collect a large volume of data. A concrete example is the child nutrition assessment questionnaire, based on the KIDMED test.
The responses given by parents contributed to the paper “Assessing Childhood Obesity and Dietary Patterns in Romania: A Comprehensive Study Utilizing the KIDMED Test”, authored by Bogdan Mihai Pascu and Carla Ciobanu and presented at the European Congress on Obesity in 2024.
The platform thus provided a tool for collecting responses to a research question. The interpretation of the data and the paper's conclusions belong to the medical team.
A project in continuous development
Since 2022, we have continued to develop the platform in collaboration with Dr. Bogdan Pascu. We add tools and adapt the functions to the needs that arise in use by doctors and residents.
This collaboration also led to MeHealthy Pediatric Pro. The app addresses the need to keep the child's measurements and see the changes between them. The parent follows the history on the phone and can share it with the doctor.
Experience in developing medical software
We work with doctors to turn the requirements of their practice into digital tools. Endocrinologiepediatrica.ro, MeHealthy Pediatric Pro, and our clinic software cover different needs: medical calculators and data collection, child growth tracking, appointments, consultations, documents, and payments.
These projects have given us experience both in working with medical information and in organizing a clinic's activity. We start from how the medical team works and build the solution together with the specialists.
